Tragedy in Santee in San Diego County
In a tragic incident that occurred early Tuesday in Santee, California, a pedestrian lost her life after being struck by a BMW sedan on the connector between state Route 125 (SR-125) and state Route 54 (SR-54). The California Highway Patrol (CHP) reported the incident, which unfolded around 4:25 a.m.
The victim, described as an unidentified adult woman, was walking along the transition ramp from SR-125 northbound to SR-54 westbound when the collision took place. Despite the driver's efforts, the BMW sedan was unable to avoid the pedestrian, ultimately hitting her in the No. 1 lane of the connecting ramp. Tragically, the pedestrian succumbed to her injuries at the scene of the accident.
The driver of the BMW, a 37-year-old man from Spring Valley, emerged from the collision unscathed. CHP officers arrived at the scene and initiated an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the accident.
