Tragedy in Gardena
Authorities are investigating a hit-and-run accident in Gardena that left a pedestrian dead in the early hours of Tuesday. The tragic incident occurred around 4:15 a.m. on Rosecrans Avenue, just west of Broadway.
According to California Highway Patrol (CHP) investigators, the victim, a man approximately 60 years old, was walking in the westbound lanes of Rosecrans Avenue when he was struck by a vehicle that then fled the scene, leaving the man critically injured on the roadway.
First responders arrived quickly at the scene, but, unfortunately, the pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene due to the severity of his injuries. Authorities have not been able to provide a description of the driver or the vehicle involved, complicating the search for the responsible party.
