Tragedy in Fontana

Two men tragically lost their lives in a traffic accident in Fontana on the night of June 26, according to the Fontana Police Department. The incident began around 10:50 p.m. when a police officer observed a motorcycle traveling at high speed southbound on Sierra Avenue, as reported by Public Information Officer Daniel Romero. The officer attempted to request helicopter support to track the vehicle due to its excessive speed; however, the helicopter was not available at that time. Due to the dangerous speed at which the motorcycle was traveling, the officer decided not to initiate a direct pursuit for safety reasons. Shortly thereafter, the motorcycle rapidly approached the intersection of Sierra Avenue and Valley Boulevard, where it tragically collided with a Nissan Sentra traveling eastbound on Valley Boulevard. In the impact, both the motorcyclist and the driver of the Nissan, who was the sole occupant of the vehicle, sustained injuries so severe that they were pronounced deceased at the scene by San Bernardino County fire and paramedic teams, who responded promptly to the emergency call. Authorities identified the Nissan driver as Ronald Clayton Steele, 46, a resident of Rancho Cucamonga, confirmed by the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Forensics Division. The motorcyclist was identified as Richard Malabuyoc Flora, 39, a resident of San Bernardino. This tragic accident has left the local community in shock, while investigations continue to determine the exact circumstances that led to this fatal collision at a busy intersection in Fontana.
