Tragedy in Carlsbad
In Carlsbad, a tragic incident occurred early Friday morning, resulting in the death of a man after being struck by a vehicle. According to local police reports, around 3:30 a.m., they responded to an emergency call alerting them to a disturbance in the 2300 block of Rue Des Chateaux, near Buena Vista Lagoon. Upon arrival, officers found a man critically injured near the roadside. Despite efforts from the Oceanside Fire Department to provide medical assistance and resuscitation, the victim unfortunately passed away at the scene of the incident.
Minutes later, officers observed a vehicle quickly leaving the scene and proceeded to stop it in the 700 block of Raintree Drive. The vehicle contained the driver and several passengers, who were detained by authorities for questioning in connection with the incident. Police reported that Robert Owens, a 41-year-old resident of Escondido, was arrested and taken to the Vista Detention Facility on suspicion of committing a homicide.
