Tragedy in Camarillo:

An Oxnard motorcyclist died Wednesday morning after crashing through a chain-link fence on northbound Highway 101 near Camarillo. The single-vehicle accident was reported at 6:07 a.m. on the highway, north of Las Posas Road, according to the California Highway Patrol (CHP). The victim, identified by the CHP as Miguel Banales, 25, was heading north on a 2019 Kawasaki Ninja. Authorities reported that Banales was on a stretch approaching Springville Drive when he veered off the roadway onto the right dirt shoulder and lost control of the motorcycle. He then crashed through the chain-link fence onto a private frontage road, where the Kawasaki overturned. The impact was so severe that Banales' helmet was dislodged, according to CHP Officer Ryan Ayala. The motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene. The Ventura County Medical Examiner's Office was called to the scene about 10 minutes after the accident was reported. The body was transported to Ventura County Medical Center, where a doctor officially confirmed Banales' death, Ayala said. Witnesses reported seeing the motorcyclist driving at high speeds before the crash, using all freeway lanes and the shoulder to pass other vehicles. Authorities have yet to determine whether alcohol or drugs were factors in the accident.
