On Tuesday morning, a fatal traffic accident on Bear Valley Road in Apple Valley led to a road closure. The collision between two vehicles occurred around 6:44 am on August 6, 2024, near Quinnault Road.
According to Sheriff’s spokeswoman Gloria Huerta, preliminary information indicates that the sedan was traveling east on Bear Valley Road while the SUV was heading west when the vehicles collided. The driver of the sedan was pronounced dead at the scene, and two occupants of the SUV were transported to a nearby hospital.
Firefighters from the Apple Valley Fire Protection District requested an airship to transport one of the injured to an out-of-area trauma center. Mercy Air subsequently airlifted the person to Arrowhead Regional Medical Center.
Bear Valley Road is currently closed between Central and Navajo Roads to facilitate the accident investigation. The situation remains under investigation as further details about the crash and the condition of the injured are gathered.
