San Leandro Accident:
In San Leandro, a traffic accident and fire that blocked Interstate 880 for hours on Tuesday night were the result of a prior freeway shooting, according to new information from the California Highway Patrol (CHP).
The incident unfolded around 7:30 p.m., south of Marina Boulevard. The CHP reported that the situation began with a freeway shooting. Although the driver and passenger who were targeted were not injured, they lost control of their vehicle, which crashed into the center median, as shown in video footage from Citizen App.
The crash caused some minor injuries, and the car subsequently caught on fire. Northbound lanes on I-880 were closed for more than two hours as the situation was managed.
The motive behind the shooting remains unclear, and no arrests have been made. Authorities continue to investigate the case to determine the details surrounding the attack and the circumstances that led to the crash and the subsequent fire.
