Rescue in Riverside
A woman in Riverside County, California, was lucky to survive after a massive tree collapsed onto her vehicle while she was driving on Wednesday, during a storm that was soaking Southern California.
The woman, whose identity was not disclosed, managed to stop her car just in time before the tree, which was already saturated with water from the rain, fell onto her vehicle on Magnolia Avenue.
Emergency services from the Riverside police and fire departments quickly responded to the scene, where they found the woman's vehicle severely damaged, with airbags deployed. The driver was taken to a nearby hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
According to witnesses, the tree was likely a century-old, like many trees in the area, and its fall caused a stir in the community. City crews had to use chainsaws and heavy machinery to clear the road and remove the vehicle from the scene.
