Highway 99 Collision

In a tragic incident, two young women lost their lives in a single-car crash that occurred on Friday morning, according to the California Highway Patrol (CHP). The accident took place around 7 a.m. on Northbound Highway 99, just south of Live Oak Boulevard. The CHP's preliminary investigation reveals that a 20-year-old woman from Gridley was behind the wheel of a 2014 Honda Accord, navigating a sweeping left curve lane at a speed yet to be determined. Unfortunately, the driver veered off the road to the right, resulting in a devastating collision with a tree. Regrettably, both women in the vehicle did not survive the impact. While the investigation is ongoing, the CHP has indicated that alcohol may have played a role in this tragic incident, though this detail has not been confirmed as of now. The passenger in the vehicle was identified as a 19-year-old woman from Gridley. An important detail noted by the CHP is that the driver was not wearing a seatbelt, while the passenger was properly buckled in, emphasizing the importance of seatbelt use in preventing injuries during accidents.
