Police Chase in Santa Barbara:
SANTA BARBARA, California – A teenager was arrested for stealing a red SUV and crashing it in a Santa Barbara parking lot on Tuesday morning. According to the Santa Barbara Police Department, officers spotted the stolen car near Bath Street and West Carrillo Street around 11 a.m.
Officers attempted to pull over the stolen vehicle, but the 16-year-old driver fled, eventually crashing into a parked grey sedan in the CVS parking lot on Carrillo Street. Police reported that two people inside the parked car suffered minor injuries.
Officers detained the teenage driver along with two female passengers. Police stated that the passengers, aged 17 and 15, were released to their parents.
The driver was booked on several charges, including vehicle theft, evading officers, felony DUI, felony hit and run, resisting an officer, and driving without a license.
This incident highlights the dangers of police chases and the risks associated with vehicle theft. Fortunately, the injuries sustained by the people in the parked car were minor. Authorities continue to investigate the case to determine more details about the theft and the accident.
