Ocean Beach Crash
Last Tuesday, an accident in Ocean Beach left a motorcyclist and his passenger critically injured. According to the official report from the San Diego Police Department, the incident occurred around 4:30 p.m. in the 5100 block of Voltaire Street. A 42-year-old man was riding his 2024 BMW motorcycle westbound with a 38-year-old woman as a passenger.
Meanwhile, a 49-year-old man was driving a 2016 Honda CR-V in the same direction on Voltaire Street. Upon reaching the intersection with Bacon Street, the Honda driver stopped at the stop sign. At that moment, the motorcyclist failed to stop behind the vehicle, resulting in a rear-end collision.
As a result of the impact, the passenger was ejected from the motorcycle and suffered an open pelvic fracture, as well as a deep scalp laceration. The motorcyclist, on the other hand, sustained severe burns to his body after the motorcycle caught fire. Authorities have classified their injuries as potentially life-threatening.
The driver of the Honda, although not seriously injured, complained of back pain after the accident. Police, who responded swiftly to the scene, are conducting an investigation to determine the exact circumstances of the crash. The possibility of alcohol consumption being a factor in the incident is being considered, although it has not yet been confirmed.
