Gunfire in Hawthorne
In a tragic incident near a Hawthorne strip mall, one woman lost her life, and five others sustained injuries due to a shooting that occurred in the early hours of Sunday. According to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, the incident unfolded around 12:27 a.m. within the 14100 block of Crenshaw Boulevard. Lieutenant Art Spencer, who is part of the sheriff’s Homicide Bureau, reported that Hawthorne Police Department officers swiftly responded to the scene after receiving reports of gunshots.
Upon arrival, officers discovered a man with gunshot wounds who was subsequently transported to a hospital for medical treatment. Lieutenant Spencer stated that as the investigation progressed, it was revealed that five additional individuals had been shot during the same incident. Tragically, one of the victims, a woman, succumbed to her injuries while being treated at a hospital. Of the remaining victims, one remains in critical condition, while the others are in stable condition.
Initial information suggests that the victims had gathered in the vicinity of the strip mall when the shooting occurred. At this point, no suspect has been identified, and investigators are working tirelessly to ascertain the motive behind the shooting.
