A tragic incident occurred on Saturday afternoon when a man was struck and killed by an Amtrak train, according to rail officials. The incident took place just before 1:30 p.m. as train number 715 was traveling from Wasco to Corcoran.
The man, believed to be around 30 years old and a transient in the Corcoran area, was reportedly trespassing on the tracks when he came into contact with the passenger train.
Fortunately, there were no injuries reported among the 96 passengers or crew members onboard at the time. However, service for the train was delayed for approximately three hours as Amtrak worked with local law enforcement to investigate the tragic incident.
