Fatal Crash on Copus Road:
On July 17, 2024, a tragic accident occurred on Copus Road, west of the I-5, near Bakersfield, California. According to the California Highway Patrol (CHP), a Toyota carrying five people veered off the road around 6:04 a.m. and overturned after crashing into an embankment. Among the passengers was Rodrigo Macuixtle Calihua, a 24-year-old from Lamont, who was not wearing a seatbelt and was ejected from the vehicle during the crash. Unfortunately, Rodrigo died at the scene at 6:30 a.m., as confirmed by the Kern County Coroner's Office.
The accident also left the other four occupants of the vehicle with minor injuries, who received medical attention at the scene. Despite the severity of the incident, nearby roads remained open while authorities investigated the scene. CHP officers are conducting an investigation to determine the exact causes of the accident, but so far, no further details have been provided.
