Fatal Crash in San Diego County
An 11-year-old girl tragically lost her life in a two-vehicle crash over the weekend in northeastern San Diego County. The incident took place on Saturday around 2:40 p.m. at the intersection of southbound state Route 79 and eastbound state Route 76.
According to California Highway Patrol Officer Jared Grieshaber, a 27-year-old woman from Escondido was driving a 2020 Honda Accord and stopped at the intersection of SR-76 and SR-79. She then proceeded to drive in front of an oncoming 2022 Ford F-150, resulting in a collision where the Ford struck the left side of the Honda.
The crash caused the tragic death of the 11-year-old girl, who was a passenger in the Honda. The 27-year-old driver, along with her 16-year-old and 34-year-old passengers, sustained minor injuries and were taken to the hospital.
The driver of the Ford, a 53-year-old man, also suffered minor injuries but was treated at the scene. Authorities have stated that they do not believe driving under the influence was a factor in the collision.
