Fatal Accident in Vallejo:
The Vallejo Police Department announced the fifth traffic collision fatality in the city this year. A driver died following a collision between two cars on Friday.
At 5:18 p.m. on Friday, Vallejo police were alerted to a crash with injuries in the 1800 block of Solano Avenue.
Responding officers found that two sedans, a 2015 Infiniti Q50 and a 2013 Hyundai Accent, were involved in a collision east of Shasta Street. According to the police, both cars had only one occupant each.
According to the Vallejo Police report, the Hyundai was traveling south on Shasta Street while the Infiniti was traveling west on Solano Avenue. The police indicated that as the Hyundai was crossing Solano Avenue toward Mayo Avenue, the Infiniti collided with the Hyundai at the intersection.
The driver of the Hyundai sustained life-threatening injuries and was taken to the hospital, where they were later pronounced dead.
The Solano County Sheriff's Coroner's Office is withholding the name of the deceased until family notifications are made.
The driver of the Infiniti remained at the scene and cooperated with the police, according to the Vallejo Police Department. The police stated that drug and alcohol use are not believed to be factors in this collision.
