Fatal Accident in San Pablo
In San Pablo, a driver died early Friday when a car ran off the city’s longest avenue, according to authorities.
The accident occurred on San Pablo Avenue near Road 20 around 5:05 a.m., said police spokesperson Peggy Chou. The gender and age of the driver were not revealed.
Officers found a car with significant front-end damage when they arrived, but they were still processing the scene and did not have all the details by 8:30 a.m., Chou said. Investigators were still examining possible causes of the crash.
Rescue workers attended to the person, who was alive when they were put into an ambulance, according to Chou. The driver died at the hospital.
The name of that person was withheld until officials can confirm their identity and notify their next of kin.
Police closed San Pablo Avenue from Lovegrove Street to 23rd Street and did not say when it would be reopened.
