Fatal accident in San Jose:
A woman lost her life after falling from a pickup truck performing dangerous maneuvers known as “donuts” in a San Jose parking lot, according to California police. The fatal accident occurred around 11:55 p.m. on Friday, September 13, according to a news release from the San Jose Police Department issued on September 16.
A white 2006 Ford pickup truck, driven by a man and carrying three passengers, including the victim, was performing “donuts” in the parking lot. "Donuts" are street stunts where the driver spins the vehicle in tight circles at high speed while the rear wheels skid, as explained by Carparts.com.
During this dangerous maneuver, the woman, who was seated in the front passenger seat, fell onto the pavement. She was then run over by the truck, according to police. The driver, realizing what had happened, immediately took her to a hospital, where she was pronounced dead.
On Tuesday, September 17, the Santa Clara County Medical Examiner’s Office identified the victim as Paulina Verduzco Mendoza from Gilroy, according to KRON. The police arrested the driver, whose name was not released, on charges of vehicular manslaughter and driving under the influence of alcohol.
This tragic accident highlights the deadly risks associated with illegal vehicle stunts and driving under the influence, which remain a significant concern for authorities and public safety overall.
