Fatal Accident in Oceanside:
An 83-year-old man was struck by a car one week ago in Oceanside and died from his injuries on Monday, authorities reported. The incident occurred last Monday around 7:31 a.m. at the intersection of Rancho Del Oro Drive and Via Rancho, according to Heather Mitchell of the Oceanside Police Department.
The man, identified as Henry Broncy, a resident of Oceanside, was crossing the street outside the marked pedestrian crosswalk when he was hit by a vehicle driven by a 46-year-old local resident. After the accident, Broncy was taken to the hospital, where he later died due to the injuries sustained.
The driver of the vehicle remained at the scene, cooperated with police, and was not arrested nor facing charges, according to authorities. This tragic accident has highlighted the importance of crossing in marked areas and the need for caution by both pedestrians and drivers to prevent similar future tragedies.
Authorities continue to investigate the accident, but no charges have been filed against the driver, who has been cooperative from the beginning. Such incidents underscore the importance of road safety and adherence to traffic rules to protect all road users.
