Fatal Accident in Modesto:
The Modesto Police Department is investigating a fatal crash that resulted in the death of the passenger of a parked vehicle on Sunday. Around 5:30 a.m., MPD responded to a collision involving two vehicles near the 1400 block of West Hatch Road. Upon arrival, officers found two men in a Toyota Prius, with one of them, the passenger, unresponsive. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
A third person fled the scene but was found in the area by MPD. The individual, a 37-year-old man from Modesto, was driving westbound on West Hatch Road in a Chevrolet Traverse when he crashed into the parked Toyota Prius, which was located along the north curb line of Hatch Road.
The driver of the Traverse was arrested and faces charges related to gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated, DUI with injuries, hit and run, and driving without a license. The investigation is ongoing as authorities seek to determine all details of the incident.
