Fatal Accident in Madera:
MADERA, Calif. — The California Highway Patrol (CHP) is on the scene of a fatal crash on Highway 99 Thursday afternoon.
The crash occurred in the northbound lanes of the highway, between Avenue 9 and Avenue 12.
According to the CHP, it appears a car hauler was stopped on the side of the highway when another big rig traveling north veered onto the shoulder and sideswiped the car hauler, striking a pedestrian who may have been working under it.
That person was pronounced dead at the scene.
The highway is closed, and traffic is being diverted around the crash site.
