Fatal Accident in Bonsall
A tragic accident in Bonsall resulted in one man dead and a woman arrested for driving under the influence. The collision occurred around 11:24 p.m. on Gopher Canyon Road, east of Hoxie Ranch Road. According to the California Highway Patrol, a 29-year-old woman from Valley Center, identified as Janely Magali Bautista, was driving a brown Chevrolet Silverado eastbound on Gopher Canyon Road when she veered into the westbound lane and collided with a white Toyota Camry.
Emergency responders arrived at the scene, and the Toyota's driver, a 51-year-old woman from Vista, and her 52-year-old passenger were taken to the hospital. The male passenger succumbed to his injuries, while the Toyota's driver sustained serious injuries.
Bautista, who suffered minor injuries, was arrested on suspicion of murder, driving under the influence, and reckless vehicular manslaughter, according to the California Highway Patrol.
Both lanes of Gopher Canyon Road were closed during the crash investigation.
