Yuba City Car Collision
In a tragic incident in Yuba City, a 66-year-old man named David McQuay lost his life after being struck by a car shortly after leaving a local convenience store. The incident occurred at approximately 5:50 a.m. on a Tuesday morning, prompting a swift response from the Yuba City Police Department, Yuba City FD, and Bi-County Ambulance Service.
David McQuay was identified as the victim by first responders, who rushed him to Rideout Hospital due to the seriousness of his injuries. Video evidence obtained by the Yuba City Police Department revealed that McQuay had left the 7-Eleven store and was walking towards the intersection of Bridge Street and Plumas Street. He crossed the intersection from the southeast corner of Bridge Street, ventured outside the crosswalk, and began walking diagonally towards the northwest corner of the street.
The tragic collision occurred when McQuay was struck by a 33-year-old woman driving a white Ford Edge, who was traveling westbound on Bridge Street at a speed of 35 miles per hour. At the time of the incident, the traffic signal for westbound Bridge Street indicated green.
Despite immediate medical attention, McQuay succumbed to his injuries while at Rideout Hospital. Law enforcement authorities have ruled out alcohol, speed, and distracted driving as factors in this tragic incident, which has left the community in mourning.
