Dramatic Sacramento Chase
In a dramatic turn of events, a high-speed pursuit initiated by the Sacramento County Sheriff's Office resulted in a serious collision involving three vehicles in Sacramento's Ben Ali neighborhood. The incident unfolded at approximately 8:30 a.m. at the intersection of Marconi Avenue and Connie Drive. The pursuit was in pursuit of a vehicle believed to be stolen, as reported by Sheriff's Office spokesman Sgt. Amar Gandhi and the California Highway Patrol's online activity log.
Captain Justin Sylvia, spokesperson for the Sacramento Fire Department, confirmed that the collision occurred mere feet away from the on-ramp to the Capital City Freeway. The pursuit began when a K-9 deputy located the suspect vehicle near Bell Street and El Camino Avenue in Arden Arcade, according to Gandhi. The pursuit eventually ended near Marconi Avenue and Connie Drive, where the suspect vehicle collided with two civilian vehicles. One person was taken into custody.
The impact of the crash resulted in the extrication of two individuals from the reportedly stolen vehicle, as mentioned by Sylvia. Additionally, there were four occupants in another vehicle involved in the collision. While three injured individuals declined hospitalization, three others sustained serious injuries, including the arrested suspect, who is expected to be booked into jail.
As a consequence of the incident, the Sacramento Police Department temporarily closed the eastbound off-ramp onto Kenwood Street, later reopening it after about 30 minutes. Furthermore, the California Highway Patrol temporarily closed westbound Marconi Avenue to traffic due to the collision but has since reopened it.
