A tragic two-vehicle crash on Highway 74 near Vista Point in California resulted in the death of a San Diego man, identified as Kenneth Macho, aged 75. The accident occurred at around 12:35 p.m. near milepost 88, involving a white Subaru Crosstrek driven by Macho and an oncoming tow truck.
California Highway Patrol (CHP) spokesperson David Torres reported that Macho and an elderly female passenger were traveling downhill when their vehicle crossed over double solid lines and collided with the tow truck. The woman sustained moderate injuries, while the tow truck driver suffered minor injuries. Both injured parties were taken to Desert Regional Medical Center for treatment.
Following the crash, both lanes were closed as authorities cleared the vehicles from the roadway. The duration of the closure was not immediately specified. Traffic on the hill was affected, and cleanup of the debris was expected to cause further delays.
