Crash on Highway 154:
SANTA YNEZ, Calif. — Four people were hospitalized on Friday after a multi-vehicle accident on Highway 154, according to the Santa Barbara County Fire Department.
The incident occurred on the 1300 block, west of Cachuma Lake, around 2:13 p.m. According to the fire department report, four cars were involved in the crash, resulting in the transportation of four individuals to the hospital. Fortunately, the injuries sustained by the victims were reported as minor, and no severe complications are expected.
Following the accident, one lane in each direction on Highway 154 remained open while emergency crews worked on the scene. However, it is expected that all lanes will be fully operational within the next hour, once authorities finish clearing the area and ensure traffic can flow smoothly.
The California Highway Patrol (CHP) will stay at the accident scene to continue the investigation and manage traffic as the affected lanes are gradually reopened.
This incident, although fortunately without fatalities, highlights the risks of traffic on busy highways like the 154, where multi-vehicle crashes can lead to delays and injuries. Local authorities continue to urge drivers to remain cautious, especially in areas near natural attractions like Cachuma Lake, which tend to attract higher traffic volumes.
