Crash in Oceanside
A pedestrian, approximately 45 years old, lost their life on Monday night in northern San Diego County after being hit by a vehicle, authorities reported.
The fatal accident occurred around 9 p.m. in the area of Mission Avenue and Ocean Pointe in Oceanside, according to the Oceanside Police Department.
"This collision occurred when a gold Nissan Murano heading eastbound on Mission Avenue struck a pedestrian crossing the roadway approximately 100 yards west of the Ocean Pointe intersection," said Sergeant Clint Bussey.
The pedestrian, about 45 years old, died at the scene, Bussey said. The pedestrian's identity was withheld pending family notification.
The driver of the vehicle remained at the scene and cooperated with police, Bussey said. A second driver also ran over the pedestrian on the roadway and remained at the scene.
"They were not under the influence of drugs or alcohol, and speed was not a factor," Bussey said.
The department's Major Accident Investigation Team conducted the investigation.
