Construction Zone Accident:
WINCHESTER, CA — An elderly cyclist was transported to the hospital on Friday after a pickup truck crowded him out in a non-contact incident near a construction zone.
According to Lt. Steven Rusk, three men on bicycles were traveling eastbound near the intersection of Simpson and Leon roads at 8:19 a.m. Friday, in an area temporarily narrowed by new construction. A white pickup truck traveling alongside the cyclists left them with no space, causing one of them, a man in his mid-70s, to crash.
After the incident, the cyclists claimed the pickup truck driver left the scene, Rusk said.
Rusk told City News Service that the injured cyclist was transported to Inland Valley Hospital with a possible collarbone injury. The cyclist was wearing a helmet and did not appear to suffer serious head injuries.
