Collision on Highway 12:

The California Highway Patrol and the Woodbridge Fire District responded to a multi-vehicle accident on Highway 12 Tuesday morning. Woodbridge Fire Chief Darin Downey reported that crews arrived at Tower Park Bridge around 4:45 a.m. and found that four vehicles were involved in the accident. According to a Woodbridge Fire social media post, one of the vehicles was hanging off the bridge. Downey did not have information about the cause of the crash. However, he noted that one person was airlifted to a nearby hospital and two others required immediate attention at the scene. The conditions of these individuals were not known. This was the fourth major collision on Highway 12 in recent months. On August 8, the highway was closed near Terminous shortly after noon when a big rig collided with a Ford pickup truck. CHP officers arriving on the scene found the big rig on fire with all its tires blown out and the front axle missing. The entire roadway was blocked by both vehicles and debris, and the San Joaquin County coroner was called around 12:30 p.m. On the afternoon of May 28, a man driving a Volkswagen Passat west on Highway 12, just west of Guard Road, veered into oncoming traffic and collided with a Honda. The driver of the Passat died at the scene, and the driver of the Honda sustained major injuries. On the evening of April 28, CHP officers responded to a vehicle collision at the Guard Road intersection. According to reports, a 62-year-old man from Mountain View was driving east in a pickup truck when the boat trailer he was towing swayed into the westbound lane. An Isleton man driving an SUV tried to turn right to avoid a head-on collision with the trailer, but his driver's side door hit the boat. The SUV struck several metal posts before driving into a vineyard. Life-saving measures were performed on the man, but he was pronounced dead at the scene. Two women in his vehicle were taken to a hospital for treatment, while two other male passengers were unharmed. The pickup driver was unhurt. Alcohol or drugs did not appear to be factors in the crash, reports state.
