Collision in Graton

In the early hours of Monday, the California Highway Patrol reported a head-on collision suspected of driving under the influence in the unincorporated community of Graton. The incident, involving two vehicles, occurred at 5:39 a.m. on Guerneville Road just west of Laguna Road. According to CHP spokesperson David deRutte, one of the vehicles crossed the double yellow lines into oncoming traffic, causing the collision. Tragically, a woman was trapped in her car and suffered fatal injuries as a result of the impact. CHP reported that another woman, allegedly responsible for the crash, was taken to Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital with moderate injuries. Additionally, authorities arrested this driver for driving under the influence of alcohol. The fatal accident led to the closure of Laguna Road at Frei Road shortly after 6 a.m. However, in an unexpected turn, it was reported that a dog belonging to one of the involved parties survived the crash and was found at the scene by CHP. This tragic event underscores the dangers of driving under the influence of alcohol and its devastating consequences. The local community of Graton is reeling from the loss of life and injuries sustained in this collision.
