Collision in Glendale
Several westbound lanes of the 134 Freeway were closed for hours in Glendale on Tuesday morning after a fatal crash involving a big rig and another vehicle.
The tragic incident occurred just before 5 a.m. near Glendale Avenue, according to the California Highway Patrol's traffic log.
Although precise details about the circumstances leading to the crash have not been disclosed, it has been confirmed that the big rig violently collided with a white sedan, resulting in the death of the person in that vehicle.
ABC7's news helicopter, AIR7 HD, was hovering over the crash scene, where it was observed that vehicles could only travel on the right shoulder to bypass the area blocked by the crash. The situation caused significant traffic delays during the morning rush hour, affecting drivers on the freeway.
Authorities were able to reopen all lanes of the freeway to drivers around 9 a.m., after several hours of closure due to cleanup efforts and the ongoing investigation.
While the freeway was fully operational again, the emotional impact and sorrow from the tragedy linger among the family and friends of the fatal victim, as well as in the community at large, mourning the loss of a life in this tragic incident.
