Collision in Coronado

All lanes of the Coronado Bridge were temporarily closed overnight due to police activity, according to Caltrans. The full closure was implemented around 1:41 a.m. on Friday, affecting both westbound and eastbound traffic on State Route 75. As the early morning progressed, transportation officials confirmed the opening of one westbound lane and full reopening of both eastbound lanes around 5:40 a.m. By midday, all lanes of the bridge were finally reopened to traffic. Authorities did not immediately provide details on the specific circumstances that led to police presence on the bridge. This incident caused significant disruptions to traffic overnight and into the morning, underscoring the need for coordination between security and transportation agencies to effectively manage situations impacting urban mobility and public safety. The gradual reopening of lanes reflects ongoing efforts to mitigate the impact on travelers and ensure smooth traffic flow on a vital route like the Coronado Bridge.
