Carjacking in Fresno:
In Fresno, California, a car stolen at knifepoint was recovered after the carjacking suspect crashed it into a power pole, according to the Fresno Police Department. The incident occurred shortly after midnight near Highway 99 and Belmont Avenue. The victim reported that the suspect approached them with a knife and demanded the car keys, then fled in the stolen vehicle.
Minutes later, the police spotted the car near Crystal and Olive Avenues. Officers attempted to initiate a pursuit, but it was called off for safety reasons. Moments after that, the suspect lost control of the vehicle and crashed into a power pole at the intersection of Olive and Polk Avenues. The suspect was arrested at the scene of the accident.
At this time, the names of those involved have not been released by the police. The investigation remains ongoing as authorities review the details of the robbery and the subsequent crash.
