Police Chase Crash

In a dramatic turn of events on Thursday afternoon in Thermal, a police pursuit of a wanted felon ended in a crash, leaving a baby with moderate injuries. The incident unfolded around 2:30 p.m. when Riverside County Sheriff's deputies located the wanted individual in the 78000 block of Highway 111, near the border of La Quinta and Indio. Upon identifying the suspect, deputies attempted to initiate a vehicle stop. However, the suspect refused to yield, resulting in a high-speed pursuit. The chase continued until the suspect collided with an uninvolved vehicle in the vicinity of Fillmore Street and 66th Avenue in Thermal. Following the crash, the suspect fled from their vehicle and sought refuge in a nearby canal. Law enforcement officers eventually apprehended the suspect, bringing an end to the chase. Sadly, a baby who was in one of the vehicles involved in the crash sustained moderate injuries. Fortunately, the occupants of the uninvolved vehicle suffered only minor injuries. The injured baby was swiftly airlifted to the hospital for medical treatment. As the investigation unfolds, the Riverside County Sheriff's Office is diligently working to piece together the events leading up to the pursuit and the crash, seeking to understand the circumstances that led to this incident.
