Arrest in Anaheim

A young person was arrested over the weekend after shooting multiple times at police in Orange County, authorities announced Monday. The incident took place around 1:45 a.m. Sunday in the 300 block of West Guinida Lane in Anaheim, according to a press release from the Anaheim Police Department (APD). Officers, while contacting several suspects, observed the young person open fire, shooting multiple times at the police before fleeing on foot. Fortunately, no one was injured by the gunfire. The officers did not return fire and requested assistance from more officers to help locate the suspect. During a search that lasted several hours, officers saw the suspect's mother leave the area and relayed the information to surrounding law enforcement agencies. Shortly after the broadcast, deputies from the Orange County Sheriff's Department located and arrested the suspect in the city of Mission Viejo without incident. The suspect was booked into the Orange County Juvenile Hall on suspicion of attempted murder of a peace officer, along with several other charges. Due to the suspect's age, authorities are not revealing the suspect's identity. The investigation, however, is ongoing and detectives from the Anaheim PD Gang Unit are asking anyone with information about the incident to call 714-765-1900. Anonymous tips can be made through Orange County Crime Stoppers at 855-TIP-OCCS or online at Orange County Crime Stoppers.
