Accident on Shasta

The California Highway Patrol (CHP) is investigating a single-vehicle crash near Whiskeytown Lake that resulted in multiple people being sent to the hospital and caused significant delays on Highway 299. The incident involved a Ford F-150, whose driver was reportedly fluctuating speeds while heading east on Hwy 299 before veering off the roadway. The driver apparently over-corrected, leading the vehicle to turn off the road and down a steep embankment. After the crash, four individuals were transported to a local hospital with possible serious or major injuries. In response, CHP officers are conducting two-way traffic control near the crash site to manage the flow of vehicles until the scene is cleared. This is causing delays for drivers on State Route 299, particularly near J.F. Kennedy Memorial Road, close to Whiskeytown Lake.
