Accident on Lenox Drive
A woman was sent to the hospital Tuesday afternoon after being struck by a vehicle in Emerald Hills, according to authorities.
The incident occurred in the 5100 block of Lenox Drive around 6:30 p.m., when a 33-year-old man was driving a GMC Yukon westbound. According to the San Diego Police Department report, the driver explained that visibility was affected by the sun, leading him to reach for the vehicle's visor. At that moment, he struck a 67-year-old woman walking along the roadway. Although the collision occurred at a low speed, between 10 and 15 mph, the woman suffered an open fracture in her left ankle and a laceration to her scalp.
Immediately after the incident, Traffic Division officers responded to the scene to investigate the crash. Police confirmed that alcohol consumption was not a contributing factor in the accident. The victim was swiftly transported to a local hospital for treatment of her injuries, which medical reports indicate are not life-threatening.
