WOFFORD HEIGHTS - A house in Wofford Heights was completely destroyed after a utility truck traveling down the 1000 Block of Evans Road crashed off the roadway and burst into flames on July 25.
According to a news release from the Kern County Fire Department, firefighters were dispatched to the area after receiving reports of a wrecked vehicle that was on fire. While firefighters were responding, concerned neighbors relayed important information to dispatchers while assisting the driver of the vehicle.
The driver, who had crashed through a power pole and into a propane tank, crawled out of the wreckage as the flames reached skyward. He was transported by Liberty Ambulance to the hospital with life-threatening injuries. The residents of the home were reported to be away at the time of the incident.
