Accident in Temecula
An accident in Temecula left a motorcyclist with serious injuries on Thursday night, resulting in the rider's death, authorities announced. Luca De Marinis, 37, a resident of Temecula, succumbed to his injuries at Inland Valley Hospital in Wildomar, approximately four hours after the accident at 6:58 p.m. at the intersection of Wolf Valley Road and Caminito Olite, as reported by the coroner's office. Friends and colleagues of De Marinis remember him on social media as a world pizza champion, originally from Italy, who traveled the world, met many people, and always brought a smile wherever he went.
Various posts highlight his passion and joy for the art of pizza and life itself. Testimonials describe his contagious energy and mourn his departure. According to the Riverside County Sheriff's Department, De Marinis was traveling northbound on Wolf Valley Road when a southbound passenger vehicle crossed in front of him to turn left onto Caminito Olite. There is no stop sign on Wolf Valley Road, so De Marinis apparently had the right of way. It is still unclear at what speed De Marinis and the passenger vehicle were traveling.
When officers arrived at the accident scene, they found De Marinis on the ground and unresponsive. The Sheriff's Department reported that alcohol or drugs are not suspected as factors in the accident. Wolf Valley Road near Camino Olite was temporarily closed while officers processed the scene and collected evidence. Anyone with information about the accident is urged to call Deputy Ott of the Southwest Station at 951-696-3000 or the Sheriff's Department at 951-776-1099.
