Accident in Little Italy
In a recent incident, a pedestrian was struck by a vehicle while walking in the picturesque neighborhood of Little Italy in San Diego. The incident occurred on a Saturday evening, at approximately 6:45 p.m., and was reported by authorities from the San Diego Police Department.
According to official reports, a 55-year-old woman was walking southbound on State Street when she attempted to cross W. Cedar Street at an unmarked crosswalk. At that moment, a 53-year-old man was driving his 2003 GMC Yukon westbound on W. Cedar Street. He came to a stop at the intersection of W. Cedar Street and State Street as required by the stop sign but failed to notice the pedestrian.
Tragically, the driver moved forward and collided with the pedestrian, causing injuries. Fortunately, the woman's injuries were classified as non-life threatening, and she was promptly transported to a local hospital for medical attention.
The San Diego Police Department's Traffic Division has initiated an investigation into the incident. Preliminary reports do not suggest that alcohol played a role in this unfortunate incident.
