Accident in El Cajon

On Thursday night, a tragic incident shook the community of El Cajon, when a pedestrian was fatally struck by a vehicle. According to Sergeant Michael Murphy of the El Cajon Police Department, the collision occurred just before 11 p.m. in the 300 block of W Chase Avenue. Emergency services, alerted by eyewitness calls, quickly responded to the scene of the accident. They found a man, seemingly aged between 50 and 60, lying in the street after being hit by a 2020 white Toyota Tacoma truck. Despite paramedics' efforts to save him, the pedestrian, whose identity has not yet been disclosed, tragically died at the scene and was not transported by medical personnel. The driver of the involved vehicle, who remained at the accident scene, fully cooperated with authorities during the initial investigation. According to police reports, alcohol or drug consumption is not suspected to have been a contributing factor in this tragic incident. El Cajon authorities have urged anyone with relevant information about the collision to contact the police hotline at (619) 579-3311, in an effort to clarify the details surrounding this fatal event. "We want to remind those who walk at night to obey all traffic control signals, cross only at designated and controlled intersections, and wear bright or light-colored clothing to be visible," emphasized the police department in a press release issued after the incident, highlighting the importance of pedestrian safety in the community.
