A tragic accident occurred in Seaside, California, on Sunday night, where two people lost their lives due to a crash caused by a driver under the influence of alcohol. According to witnesses and local police, a vehicle speeding at over 100 miles per hour on Del Monte Boulevard struck a homeless man who was eating in the median. Afterward, the car continued and crashed into a lane divider before overturning at the intersection of Fremont Boulevard and Military Avenue. The driver, identified as Leon Torres, a 19-year-old from Watsonville with a suspended license and on DUI probation, was ejected from the vehicle and died at the scene, along with the homeless man, 40-year-old Daniel Carrico-Lynn. Authorities reported that all the passengers in the vehicle were under the influence of alcohol and had left Watsonville for the beach. The four passengers survived the accident with no serious injuries. A witness, Chris Bebawi, described the scene as chaotic and devastating, highlighting the emotional impact of witnessing such a tragedy. Bebawi expressed his shock at the loss of an innocent life, stating that "that homeless man was someone's son" and lamenting that "he was in the wrong place at the wrong time." Seaside police are still investigating the accident and are asking anyone with information to contact them.
