Tragedy in Stockton:

An 11-year-old girl died after an accident on Sunday morning in Stockton, California, when an SUV crashed into a tree. The accident occurred around 7:45 a.m. on the 5800 block of North El Dorado Street, in front of St. Mary’s High School, according to Stockton Police Department spokesperson Officer Omer Edhah. At the scene, police found six minors inside the vehicle: an 11-year-old girl, two 13-year-old girls, a 13-year-old boy, and two girls aged 14 and 15. The 11-year-old girl was transported to the hospital, where she sadly succumbed to her injuries. The other five minors were also taken to hospitals for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries, according to authorities. Officer Edhah expressed concern over the incident, noting that it is alarming that such young children, aged between 11 and 15, were involved in such a serious accident. He also urged the community to be mindful of where their children are, who has access to car keys, and to take precautions to prevent such tragedies from happening again. It is still unclear who was driving at the time of the accident, and investigators are working to determine the seating positions of the vehicle's occupants. Edhah also indicated that all the minors were passengers, and there did not appear to be any adults in the car at the time of the crash.
