A woman was arrested after setting vehicles on fire and threatening bystanders with an axe during a violent rampage in Hollywood Hills on Saturday. The incident occurred near Argyle and Franklin Avenues around 10:30 a.m. Cell phone video captured a Toyota Prius being set on fire. As the flames continued to grow, an explosion occurred, sending a column of black smoke into the air. The fire continued to spread and eventually reached a nearby Jeep Cherokee SUV. Witnesses stated that the suspect ran into an apartment complex where she reportedly attacked a woman with an axe. She also threatened other bystanders with the same weapon. Los Angeles police responded to the scene and arrested the woman, who was seen covered in blood. The victim who was attacked was taken to a local hospital for treatment. Firefighters rushed to the scene and eventually extinguished the burning vehicles. The motive behind this violent rampage remains unclear. The suspect, described only as a white woman, was taken into custody. Her identity was not released. The incident remains under investigation.
