A 31-year-old man was injured Saturday night after being ejected from his motorcycle in Kearny Mesa, authorities reported. According to the San Diego Police Department, the incident occurred around 9:30 p.m. in the 9300 block of Lightwave Avenue. The man was riding a 2021 Honda motorcycle westbound when, for unknown reasons, he entered the eastbound lanes of traffic and struck the center median. As a result of the impact, the rider was ejected from his motorcycle. Police indicated that the man suffered a skull fracture, an orbital fracture, and various abrasions. Despite the severity of the injuries, they are not considered life-threatening. Officers from the Traffic Division responded to the scene and will handle the collision investigation. Authorities have determined that alcohol was a factor in this accident. This incident underscores the dangers of driving under the influence of substances and highlights the importance of maintaining road safety.
