Vehicle Hits Pedestrian in Fresno;

A pedestrian is in critical condition in the hospital this Friday after being struck by a vehicle at a very busy intersection in Fresno. Officers from the Fresno Police Department responded to Shaw and Valentine avenues around 10:30 a.m., where they found a man lying on the road. Emergency personnel quickly arrived at the scene and transported the man to the hospital, where he was admitted in critical condition. According to Fresno Police Officer Luke Tran, a white vehicle was traveling east on Shaw in the No. 2 lane when it hit the pedestrian, who was crossing south on Valentine using the crosswalk. However, the pedestrian did not have the green light to cross. The vehicle's driver remained at the scene of the accident and cooperated with the authorities. The vehicle showed visible damage to the windshield, indicating the severity of the impact. Due to the accident, eastbound traffic on Shaw was diverted through the Big Lots parking lot, causing some delays in the area. Police officers reported that they would remain at the scene for at least another hour to continue the investigation and secure the area. This incident highlights the importance of caution for both pedestrians and drivers, especially at busy intersections. The Fresno police are continuing to investigate the exact circumstances of the accident to determine any additional responsibility and to prevent similar incidents in the area in the future.
