Crash in Castaic
On Friday, authorities identified three individuals who tragically lost their lives in a shocking car accident in Castaic, where the vehicle's driver, allegedly under the influence of alcohol, was hospitalized and taken into police custody. According to the California Highway Patrol (CHP) report, the tragic incident occurred around 12:30 a.m. on Wednesday on The Old Road, north of Parker Road.
The involved vehicle, a 2010 silver Toyota Camry, was traveling at a high speed when it failed to negotiate a curve in the road, veering off and violently colliding with a tree and a light pole. The impact was so severe that the car split in two and subsequently caught fire. Three of the passengers were ejected from the vehicle and sadly pronounced dead at the scene by emergency teams from the Los Angeles County Fire Department, due to the severe injuries sustained.
The deceased victims were identified as Brian White, 22 years old; Quinell Shelton, a 15-year-old youth; and Nylah Blanchard, a 16-year-old teenager, although the cities of residence of the deceased have not been publicly confirmed. The vehicle's driver, 19-year-old Taylor Roberson from Redlands, managed to self-extract from the heavily damaged vehicle and was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment of serious injuries.
Taylor Roberson, aside from being the sole survivor of the accident, now faces potential criminal charges, as per CHP, showing signs and symptoms of alcohol intoxication at the time of the crash. An investigation for driving under the influence of alcohol is underway to determine the exact circumstances that led to the tragic incident.
