Accident and Theft in Echo Park
In Echo Park, on Thursday afternoon, an incident occurred that affected Northbound Highway 101, causing partial lane closures due to a car accident. According to the Los Angeles Police Department, a robbery suspect allegedly stole a vehicle from a residence located on the 1400 block of Allesandro Street. To commit the robbery, the individual took the keys from the residence before fleeing in the stolen car.
The incident culminated in a collision near the exit to Alvarado Street on Northbound Highway 101. Around noon, aerial footage captured the moment when police officers directed drivers off the highway at the Alvarado exit, just south of the accident site. As a safety and traffic management measure, at 12:45 p.m., the California Highway Patrol announced that two lanes of Northbound Highway 101 would be closed for approximately one hour, while the other two lanes remained open to facilitate traffic flow. This partial closure lasted as planned, affecting highway mobility during the specified time.
