Collision on Espinosa Road
A 42-year-old man tragically lost his life in the early hours of Sunday after being struck by a Mercedes, according to the California Highway Patrol (CHP). The fatal accident occurred around 4:30 a.m. on Espinosa Road, east of Highway 183, when a black Mercedes was traveling westbound.
According to CHP spokespersons, the vehicle encountered a pedestrian in the westbound lane of Espinosa Road directly in its path. Despite the driver's attempts to avoid the collision, unfortunately, they could not prevent hitting the pedestrian, whose identity has not yet been disclosed pending notification of family members by the Monterey County Coroner's Office.
The impact resulted in fatal injuries to the pedestrian, who was pronounced dead at the scene by emergency teams responding to the scene. Following the incident, the Mercedes continued westward until it finally stopped in a nearby agricultural field, where it remained until authorities arrived.
The driver of the Mercedes, whose identity was not disclosed, remained at the scene and fully cooperated with the investigations conducted by the CHP.
