Accident in Sutter County
On Sunday afternoon, a tragic accident in Sutter County shook the local community, resulting in the loss of life of a 19-year-old and leaving another driver with serious injuries. According to reports from the California Highway Patrol (CHP), the incident occurred around 6:40 p.m. at the intersection of Highway 113 and Leisure Road. The incident involved a 2003 gray Volkswagen traveling north and attempting to overtake two vehicles ahead, while a black Mercedes was traveling south.
At a critical moment, the Mercedes attempted to maneuver to the right to avoid the head-on collision, but the Volkswagen, in its overtaking attempt, veered left and ultimately collided on the dirt shoulder of Highway 113. The impact proved fatal for the Volkswagen's driver, a young resident of Marysville whose life was tragically cut short. The Mercedes driver sustained serious injuries as a result of the crash and was promptly transported to a nearby hospital, where urgent medical attention was provided.
Initial investigations by the CHP revealed that the stretch of road where the accident occurred was marked with a solid yellow line for northbound traffic and a dashed yellow line for southbound traffic. While further investigations are ongoing to determine the exact causes of the accident, there is no suspicion that drugs or alcohol were contributing factors.
